Kehan Lai, born in Amoy in 1998, now lives and works in New York and Shanghai. She creates transient assemblages that examine the relationship between fiction and reality, using photography and sculpture-making techniques. Her process involves capturing abstract images, transforming them into physical forms, and then re-photographing the resulting tableaus, thereby creating a cyclical dialogue between reality and constructed realities.

She holds a BFA photography degree from the Parsons School of Design. Recent solo exhibitions include “Undulation” (EDA Art Space, Shenzhen, 2023); recent group exhibitions include “Art Nova 100” (Gurdian Art Center, Beijing, 2023), “Rea Arte” (Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan, 2022), “Unbound 11” (Candela Gallery, Richmond, 2022); She is the winner of the Reclaim Award (Cologne, 2022) and the finalist for The New Photography Award at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale (Ballarat, 2019). She had a residency at Swatch Art Peace Hotel from 2021-2022.

Kehan is also the creator behind the photography podcast Iridescener.
